GAYLETTER’s Pride Guide 2018

New York is no stranger to queer nightlife, and pride week’s got it all!

Some of us LGBTQ+ identifying folks behave like it’s Pride year round. It doesn’t matter if its January or February, June or July —  if you want to dance in the streets, dye your hair rainbow colors or parade around in a jockstrap, we think you should! Life is more fun when you’re uninhibited by commercial calendars or social standards. The LGBTQ+ community was born out of rather radical and therefore totally political postures. So, while yes, non-gays should get off the sidewalk when we are walking behind them in June, please carry that confidence with you throughout the rest of the year too. We’re here, we’re queer, and honey, trust and believe there are many parties to go to this week.

New York City is no stranger to queer nightlife. New parties pop-up all of the time; some die, some don’t. For 2018 we combed every platform imaginable to find some of the most fierce things to do in the city to help you feel prideful and ultra-gay.

Pride in NYC has something for everyone. Brooklyn and Manhattan, Downtown to Midtown, GAYLETTER’s pride guide features everything.

WEDNESDAY JUNE 20

ART: DAYBREAK – NEW AFFIRMATIONS IN QUEER PHOTOGRAPHY

Get your Pride week started by heading down to the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art to see some super queer art. DAYBREAK: New Affirmations in Queer Photography features the work of twelve young photographers of varying backgrounds and identities, all of whom are making work about being queer. The pieces range in style and composition and subject matter, so the exhibit covers a really nuanced range of queer experiences. I have to admit, as a newly-minted NYC resident I hadn’t been to the Leslie-Lohman before going to see this show, but thank god I did! What a gem. The space is perfectly intimate but not small and the curation is insanely on-point. Whether you’ve been before or not, make your way over this week to see Daybreak. It’s the perfect low-key start to what’s bound to be a wild week. The twelve photographers featured are Kevin Aranibar-Molina, Elliott Jerome Brown Jr., Ryan James Caruthers, Ryan Duffin, Andrew Jarman, Mikaela Lungulov-Klotz, Groana MelendezVanessa Rondón, Alexis Ruiseco-Lombera, Matthew Papa, Jess Richmond and Elias Jesús Rischmawi. The show is up until September 2nd, just so you know.

FREE, 12:00-6:00PM, Wed-Sat. 26 Wooster St. NY, NY.

PARTY: HEY MOXY!

Typically a mid-week shindig at the Magic Hour rooftop bar & lounge in Times Square, the Pride week edition is a bit more lively, with food, a tequila special and a few performances — one by Ruby Fox (take a shot each time you read her name in this year’s guide…She’s MAJOR) and appearances by MadBoots who are performing at the Joyce all week. The space is vast and comfy. Ty Sunderland will bring the tunes and he can get you in the right very gay mood. The weekend is set to be a long one, but this works to start the parties off right.

FREE, 6:00PM, Moxy Times Square, 485 7th Ave. NY, NY.

PARTY: OOPS! PRIDE W/ K RIZZ

Should you be new to New York, OOPS! has been going strong for ages. It’s moved locations (naturally), but has continuously been a go-to weekly for locals and gay-purveyors since GAYLETTER has been writing about it. The cast of girls hosting has changed a bit, but that doesn’t mean that OOPS! still isn’t bringing the cuntiest weeknight drag shows around. Featuring rising starlets Harajuki, West Dakota, Crystal Mesh — who is debuting her new single “Local Celebrity” — and Jacquee Kennedee, OOPS! Pride is a perfect middle of the week party for you if you’re sitting at work on Wednesday thinking, “God, is it the weekend yet?” Not the most heavily trafficked night, OOPS! will serve you some kitchy-camp du jour along with exactly what a gay party should be — good friends, cheap well drinks and cheap beer!

FREE, 10:00PM-4:00AM, The Rosemont, 63 Montrose Ave. BK, NY.

THURSDAY JUNE 21

PARTY: KISMET PRIDE

Paul Iacono (who’s emceeing with Miguel Grisanti) texted us to let us know about his Kismet Pride edition at Club Cumming — so glad he did this because it’s about time we headed to Club Cumming (now that it’s partly owned by Alan Cumming), it’s been a while since we’ve been there and it’s always a joy to stop by. Shows this Thursday include Ruby Fox (we told you this bitch is busy), Serena Tea, Larry Owens, Lucas AB. Shows are at 11:00PM, DJs for the night are Ty Sunderland and Brik. I am gonna keep this short and tell you that if I have to say where I am going to from this entire guide, this is one of them. See you there after Rupaul’s Drag Race.

$10, 10:00pm, Club Cumming, 505 E 6th St. NY, NY.

PARTY: PAT PRIDE 2018

PAT’s pride party is back this summer at Brooklyn’s Union Pool. As usual this party is for everyone! No hosts, sponsors, or corporations. Just you, the DJ’s, and everybody else — and it’s free! This was the first monthly I started going to when I came of age in NYC and I always left there feeling light, and a little drunk. It’s not like I went to find someone to go home with, it was so much less sleazy than that. Everyone was happy to be around one another, the well drinks were bad but cheap (order Beer lol) but the music in the back room was always so, so fun. Amber Valentine and the crew that throw PAT really do keep it as effortless as possible. No hosts, no corporations. You’ll have the best time and see the cutest faces.

FREE, 10:00PM-3:00AM, 484 Union Ave. BK, NY.

ART: FRIENDS OF DOROTHY

Once in a while a show opens in New York and every exhibitor is exactly who you want to see. Friends of Dorothy has a tight group of eight working artists, many of who are near and dear to GAYLETTER’s heart. James Bidgood, Naruki Kukita, Mickey Aloisio, Jim French, and Benjamin Fredrickson have all contributed to the magazine, and Peter Berlin, David Carrino and John Arsenault have all been on the radar. In what seems to be a photography focused show, this multi-purpose space (The Mott is a gallery slash clothing store slash hair salon slash design store) will open Friends of Dorothy to put focus on pride month and showcase the many hard working gay artist of the past and present. Each artist exhibiting deals with homosexuality in a variety of ways, albeit using photography as a means to an end. Expect scenes of queer utopia, the more gritty nature of male sexuality, a whimsical approach to what the queer future looks like and lots more.

FREE, 6:00-8:00PM, MOTT NYC, 169 Mott St. NY, NY.

FRIDAY JUNE 22

EVENT: JOY

The queer and trans wellness collective ‘Queer Anga’ is teaming up with The Center to host JOY. This event is about exactly that— celebrating trans, non-binary and queer joy! There will be food, music, and poster-making led by WRRQ Collective in addition to performances by T.Wise and El Roy Red. All of this is in preparation for the 14th annual Trans Day of Action rally, so come to JOY to celebrate in solidarity before rallying against oppressive and heterosexist structures. JOY will also feature a guided conversation Tatenda Ngwaru, Tey Meadow, Bianey Garcia and the Trans Oral History Project, so things are bound to be super enriching as well as joyful. And- the whole thing is free, food included!

FREE, 1:00pm-3:00pm at The Center. 208 W. 13 St. New York, NY.

PARTY: STR8 TO DVD

If you’re feeling a bit more punk rock, STR8 TO DVD at Gold Sounds is a good place to start. For starters, the bar is a total dive with your classic back room ripe for some queen to give the show of her life on. Think Adore Delano drag-rock meets Guitar Hero dreams with a bit more patent leather and a whole lot more at stake. This party is thrown by younger queens — like Sherry Poppins and Qhrist with a Q — who are still seasoning their performances but throwing super DIY ragers. It’s a cash bar, so hit the bank before!

Suggested $5-$10, 11:00PM-4:00AM, Gold Sounds, 44 Wilson, BK, NY.

EVENT: LPR X – JUSTIN VIVIAN BOND & FRIENDS CELEBRATE PRIDE 2018

Pride is magic! Glamour is resistance! If you are unfamiliar with Justin Vivian Bond, well then you must do your homework! V is an artist working through various mediums — most recently watercolors — but V’s main platform is cabaret. V’s shows have long sold out at fabulous venue’s like Joe’s Pub, or the SummerScape at Bard College. For Pride, V will take over Le Poisson Rogue for an evening of songs and jokes. V’s sets are filled with classics, and the in-between breaks are quite possibly worth the price of admission. V has stories and anecdotes for days. Featuring Ah-Mer-Ah-Su and other guests to be announced, this performance most certainly will not disappoint. Viv is a New York staple. V’s work has long been a political statement before it was cute and trendy to do so. Not to mention Viv’s circle of friends are some of the best of the best NYC has to offer. Buy a ticket, Viv will get you going… plus you never know who you might see in the crowd!

$35, 7:00pm doors – 8:00pm show, Le Poisson Rouge, 158 Bleecker St. NY, NY.

PARTY: BUBBLE_T PRESENTS: HAUTE_POT_PRIDE

BUBBLE_T, the queer Asian/Pacific creative collective, is taking over Le Bain at the Standard for HAUTE_POT_PRIDE. When this party first started they asked GAYLETTER to help give it press. That was May of last year and my oh my has this party grown. It’s no small feat to take over Le Bain at the Standard. The club’s usual haunts are nightlife majors like Susanne Bartsch or Eli Escobar, so the fact that Bubble_T has went from the little old Rosemont to the big bad city, then you know it’s doing something right. First of all, the party’s got no cover and if you’ve ever been out on Pride weekend, then you know that’s basically like finding a pot of gold, because the $20 you save on cover is the $20 you can spend on shots. Bubble_T, for those who don’t know is a party designed for queer and trans people of color. They get the best of the best from their community to host the evening, including dame Slay Rizz, Cody Jue, Franky Tran, David, and a bunch of other hot people. Not to mention the Bubble_T queens are actually some of the hottest girls working in drag today: Dakota, Panthera, Sookie Sterling, Mahal Kita, all of these bitches. We love this party and its mission. Show up in a lewk cause they’re all a bunch of fierce people and it would be a shame to go unnoticed!

FREE w/ RSVP, 10:00PM-4:00AM, Le Bain at the Standard, High Line, 848 Washington St. NY, NY.

EVENT: LADYLAND

Bitch this is going to be everything. I swear on Pride I better see you there. Go digging through your mama’s closet, grab that lax pinnie she claimed from a boy in high school as a trophy, and bring it to werk. This is the inaugural Ladyland, Ladyfag’s annual queer music festival that is here to make NYC gayer year over year. Housed at the Brooklyn Mirage, your ticket will get you access to performances by Eve, Sophie, Ssion, Kim Petras, Aquaria, 070 Shake, and, literally, the list goes on. Shop at Pop Souk for your next Pride look, sip that gay water (aka vodka soda), lounge, and dance in 18,000 square feet of paradise. Seriously, it’s too much to miss. Because we know what it means to give back, Ladyland is also in partnership with programs like the Ali Forney Center for homeless LGBT+ youth, and the Gays Against Guns program. Ladyland will give you everything Brochella never could. And you better come correct.

$55-65 General Admission, 5:00PM-4:00AM, at The Brooklyn Mirage, 140 Stewart Ave. BK, NY.

PARTY: PRIDE: HOT & BOTHERED – NYC

Whitney Day is here to kick your weekend off on Friday night with a femme dancefloor takeover. Downtown at Cielo, where the music comes first and if you’re not sweating then you’re not playing, Day has recruited some kickass co-DJs like HardCandy, DJ Kate Munroe, and DJ Amanda Louise. Expect house, expect pura vida, expect sneaker game on maximum. And, of course, Cielo has an outdoor patio for you to chill and bum a cig when you need to catch a breather. Whitney Day’s club/house credentials are supreme, and HOT & BOTHERED is bound to get your queer heart beating faster and faster in time to get your Pride started right.

$20, 10:00PM-4:00AM, 18 Little West 12th St. NY, NY.

PARTY: OVA THE RAINBOW: PERVERTIGO

A great way to test the limits for your partying is going to whatever the Dreamhouse collective is presenting at the Spectrum. Pride is no different, and they’re throwing their typical crazy warehouse-feeling party right after the trans and drag march. There are many, many looks to see at Ova the Rainbow… and mind you the space is rather after hours, so you can expect to party past four. That is, unless the rules have somehow changed, but that’s highly improbable. The hosts are pretty sexy, including Gage of the Boone (who does a lot of the programming for the space) Jacolby Satterwhite, Stawecki, Fernando and others, plus the DJ’s will definitely keep it feel sleazy. Dese, A Village Raid, LA Olympics and others. Billboard called this Brooklyn’s best queer party space. Do with that what you will!

$10-$25, 10:00PM-8:00AM, The Spectrum, 1022 Wycoff, BK, NY.

SATURDAY JUNE 23

PARTY: BOUM BOUM – PRIDE EXTRAVAGANZA

The best pride parties have the best drag line ups. Boum Boum, a party happening exclusively for pride is most certainly one to consider. Rify Royalty has been having a killer moment in NYC. She’s booked the best acts at NarcBar for her RuPaul viewing, so in terms of throwing parties, her’s are ones not to miss. Boum Boum has a great lineup up showgals, including Ruby Fox, Dynasty and Mini Horowitz, plus Rify herself. Those begin at midnight and the carry will continue on straight through close. If you’re feeling adventurous, get their early for an open Espresso Martini bar. They’ll be using La Colombe beans! If you’re late all of the time like a real New Yorker, don’t worry – free La Colombe draft lattes all night. Who needs cocaine when there is coffee?

$20, 10:00PM-4:00AM, The Flat, 23 West 24th St. NY, NY.

PARTY: FAKE NUDES

Fakes Nudes was voted Brooklyn’s Best Party at the Brooklyn Nightlife Awards (we didn’t win for the 5th year in a row, so what the fuck do they know, we’re kidding). It’s been a weekly at The Rosemont for what’s seemingly been every weekend, I’m not sure that is actually the case, but it feels like it. They never take a weekend off! And that’s a good thing, because as far as I am concerned it might just be the best party happening right now. For Pride weekend you can expect music by DJ Pat, Mazorbate and Dicap. Shows for the night will be by The House of Sterling (legendary) Neon Calypso. For some reason it is impossible to find deets about this party online. That could be because I’m using free wifi at Sweetgreen, regardless just go to this party. Rosemont is always fun. Their backyard is perfect for warm nights and the crowd is super diverse and fun.
FREE, 10:00PM, The Rosemont, 63 Montrose Ave. Brooklyn, NY.

EVENT: SLAVA BOOK SIGNING

Slava Mogutin has been a loyal collaborator and friend to GAYLETTER for many, many years. We just love everything he does and look for every chance to celebrate him. This Saturday Slava is hosting a book signing at the MoMA Design store in SoHo.  He’ll be signing copies of his book Bros & Brosephines which is a “survey of Mogutin’s studio portraiture and magazine work. It includes contributions by David J. Getsy, Zackary Drucker, Brian Kenny, Gio Black Peter, Bruce LaBruce, François Sagat and more.” Please make sure to buy a copy of his book if you show up to this thing, there’s nothing more tacky than attending a book signing and not buying the book m m m — or if you already own the book, just bring it and get it signed by him. Hoping that the design store is gonna have cocktails, just saying.

FREE, 6:00PM-8:00PM, MoMA Design Store, Spring St. New York, NY.

PARTY: RUBIES IN THE ROUGH

This looks like a pretty packed party. Presented by Ruby Fox (she is busy, busy, busy this Pride week!) we’re told to expect “shows, trade, food and games.” The night’s MC is Jessa Angel and hosts include Jeffrey Scott and our fav (and Aquaria’s BFF) Jordan Stawecki. If you’re lucky maybe you’ll end up on an Instagram story. In terms of shows for the night you can expect performances by: Ruby Fox, Magenta, Bella Moon and Stella Artoit. Music is by DJ Econ.

FREE, 10pm, The Deep End,1080 Wyckoff Ave. New York, NY.

PARTY: RAINBOW BRITE – PRIDE AT SECRET LOFT

I just spent the last ten minutes trying to find the address to this “secret loft” only to discover that, duh, it’s secret. On the day of the event they’ll send out the address to ticket holders. Here’s what to expect from the night: We’ve got aerialists, drag queens and sexy go-go dancers. There will be a midnight costume contest for the most fabulous/extra outfit – winner receives a bottle of champagne!” Entertainment it by “Drag Qweens” Dominic Di Felice aka Jojo Carvel, plus Aerial circus Peaches tribute by Ariel Iasevoli, Go-gos: Jonathan McDonald & Fabien Ropraz and music is by DJ’s Remniqe and Sy Boccari (Power Patterns), who will be spinning house and techno until the early hours.” Sounds like a blast!

$5/$8/$10, 10:00PM, Secret Loft, Greenwich Village, Manhattan, New York, NY.

PARTY: EVERYBOOTY 2018

EVERYBOOTY is back and bigger than ever. The yearly affair, co-hosted with the art cuties at BAM, will be a blowout extravaganza where decadence reigns supreme. Every Booty is perfect for the BAM Fisher location in Brooklyn, conveniently located a short romp away from nearly every train line, where glitter and grime come together for that unique cocktail a New York Pride night needs to be made complete. We’ve got four floors (including a rooftop) to sanctify, with art and performances in every corner. With powerhouse creatives like DJ Horrorchata, Jes Tom, Ricardo Osmondo Francis, DJ Tikka Misala, Crimson Kitty, Mark Balahadia, and so many more than we have space to name, you’ll doubtless find your people and your passion.

$30, 9:00PM-3:00AM, at BAM Fisher, 321 Ashland Place, BK, NY.

EVENT: PRIDE BBQ

This is a cute one. Nowadays opened earlier this year and has been hosting the best electronic nights. When Abi & Tom first went (to Fruits & Vegetables) they raved about the space, saying it was “just like Berlin” and Tom was asked to put his phone away on the dance floor. So, to note – Nowadays has a great policy for their indoors space, which is… Don’t use your damn phone! Enjoy the music and dance your heart out. For Pride the queers are commandeering the “Outdoors” space, serving soft vibes but fierce tunes throughout the course of the day and through 2:00AM. What’s better than an Outdoor moment with some fierce BBQ food, bocce ball, and spiked lemonade. They’re pushing the “enjoying a good backyard hang with friends,” and sometimes — if you’re feeling mellow but feisty — that’s exactly what you need during Pride weekend. A place to get a little mixy and laugh with friends. Top-notch tunes, “like always,” from JT Almon, Michael Magnan, Lex Rodriquez, Olive T, FBI Warning and Gooddroid

FREE, 12:00PM-2:00AM, Nowadays, 56-06 Cooper Ave. NY, NY.

PARTY: GET WRECKED & CARRY 15-HOUR PRIDE PARTY!

If you saw on the party’s Facebook page that it said “Don’t worry, there will be plenty of $40 tickets at the door,” and thought, That’s too much money! just read the lineup and it makes sense why they could charge so much. Ariel Zetina, Honcho (woof, woof…), Juliana Huxtable are all included, and Octo Octa is closing out the night, which is all you need from a party. She can bring you to the stars like no other DJ! Since it opened Elsewhere has been doing major work to create parties and events that are queer inclusive and they have really been doing a wonderful job. Wrecked and the Carry Nation have been throwing fag bangers for years in New York, so it’s wonderful that they’ll be able to take over the space on the month’s gayest weekend. Oh yeah, it’s a 15-hour party! It goes from 3:00PM-6:00AM. Things will start with a tea dance on the Roof (come for the views) before moving downstairs into the club where you can dance until the following day. Seems that NYC is finally becoming Berlin!

$40 at the door, 10PM-4AM, Elsewhere, 599 Johnson Ave. BK, NY.

PARTY: HEAVEN ON EARTH NY: PRIDE ANTHEMS

Ty Sunderland’s monthly pop music party Heaven On Earth is getting a Pride edition. Instead of highlighting just one gay icon (he’s done Britney, Gaga, Bey, and anyone else you can twink of)  Heaven On Earth NY: Pride Anthems will cover the whole array of gay pop anthems. Think We R Who We R, Born This Way, I’m Coming Out, Dancing Queen, All The Lovers, Supermodel, Let’s Have A Kiki, I Will Survive bottled up into one back room at some random FiDi restaurant and BOOM, you’ve got Heaven on Earth.  Hosted by the super-lux Linux and Terence Edgerson at China Chalet, Ty will DJ alongside throwback NYC resident Alex Chapman, Timo Weiland, and the really fierce Wench will give a show. (She’s one to watch. Also has a high budget.) We always post photos of this party and it looks like a sweaty, kissy, drag filled mess, which we love. Most certainly a party not to miss when it’s Pride in NYC and everyone’s hormones are skyrocketing! Oh, baby do you know what that’s worth!

$20 before 10:30, $30 after, China Chalet, 47 Broadway, NY, NY.

SUNDAY JUNE 24

PARTY: GITANO NYC PRIDE ELEBRATION

You know, we love Tulum. It’s been called the Brooklyn of Mexico, which is sort of dumb, but hey, not entirely untrue. The new Gitano NYC restaurant just opened earlier this week and we were very comfortable in the space. It’s in Tribeca, it has sand, palm trees — combine that with mezcal and we are in business. “Gitano NYC is set in a 24,000 square foot outdoor tropical oasis in the heart of downtown NYC. Bringing bespoke mezcal & tequila cocktails and modern Mexican cuisine cooked on an open fire and wood burning oven, meditation space and reflecting pool to NYC.” They’ll be hosting a PRIDE party with music curated by Nile Rodgers, The Misshapes and Ty Sunderland. Tropical gardens by Manscapers.  It’s pretty obvious you’ll see us there, did they say outdoor? On our way!

FREE, 2:00PM-Sunset, Gitano NYC, 76 Varick St. (entrance on Grand St.) NY, NY.

PARTY: BATTLE HYMN PRIDE – 12 HOURS OF HONEY DIJON!

When we heard Battle Hymn was ending we were sad, we loved it, but that party really could do a number on you. The weekly Chelsea rave thrown by the boss herself, Ladyfag, was a place to be seen, make a name for yourself, be naughty and truly let nightlife take over your body. If you’ve never partied hard in New York and want to feel like you’re in a queer indie film, go to Battle. After last year’s super success, Battle Hymn Pride featuring another 12 hour Honey Dijon set is back for another 12 hours of partying—5pm to 5am. One night when we were hosting Honey Dijon dropped some insane track where the entire dancefloor paused to listen to a monologue about sucking big dick. Iconic was an understatement. Battle is a true party, full of fantasy, ecstasies and fulfillment, for the Pride edition Lady’s thrown in “a few extra surprises.” It’s free before 6pm, which is hella rare, so get there early and stay the whole night! Lady will be wrapping up her very first festival at this party, so she’s certain to be in full form with her starlit crew: Amanda Lepore, Harry Charlesworth, Muffy, Boomer Banks, Joe!, Grandfather Hector Xtravaganza and so many others! Just remember there’s no re-entry!

$15 before 7pm, $25 B4 8pm, $35 after, 229 W 28th St. NY, NY.

PARTY: FEMME FATALE – NYC PRIDE 2018

Here’s a great chance to take the bright and carefree energy that The March serves and get a bit elevated with it. The Hudson Terrace rooftop will open at 4PM (with an open bar the first hour!) for Femme Fatale, a women’s event for the fierce queens who want to get a little apeshit this year. Beyoncé hath decreed that the time is come. Hosted by the devastating Madison Paige, Femme Fatale features spins from Rosy Q, Mary Mac, and Tatiana. All proceeds will go to NYC Pride in order to fund many of the free events they put on for LGBT+ youth and families. So you can indulge and feel the music on the breeze, all the while your dollar is going towards the health and Pride of those who need it! Werk, sip, and forget all about your part-time job while you get it popping in time for the night to come.

$30 General Admission, $60 VIP, 4PM-10PM, at Hudson Terrace (621 W 46th St. Manhattan)

EVENT: NYC GAY PRIDE MARCH 2018

She’s finally arrived. Here is your grand chance to strut, booze, cruise, and drag-net nudes all down 7th Avenue and back up 5th Avenue. The March this year promises to be the biggest it’s been—our most flagrant feather-boa’d refusal to be silenced. Since they chose to make our love political, it’s our duty to show them, in full regalia, the strength of our community, and our power to make ourselves seen. A brick for every window! Plus it’s just a lot of fun. Stoops, storefronts, and doorways gleam with the sort of collective love that generates new friends and free drinks. I’ve never made so many friends weaving through a crowd on the hunt for some glitter. The March each year is the watershed moment that makes this month so special, and we all are safe under its rainbow umbrella-ella-ella. It’s a celebration and a mourning, a recognition of the losses we’ve taken and the angels we’ve gained.

FREE, 12:00PM-6:00PM, South from 7th Ave and 16th St. then North from 5th Ave and 8th St. NY, NY.

PARTY: COLOR ME QUEER 2018!

Ring out the last day of Pride with Color Me Queer, a giant dance party celebrating queer people of color! Color Me Queer is taking over the whole Delancey, rooftop, main floor and basement. Things start at 6 so you can pretty much come straight from the parade and get to dancing. Think Bollywood, chaabi, redh pop, hip hop, breakbeats, ballroom, dancehall, reggae, reggaeton, salsa, soca, bandari, chutney and more! And the $15 cover supports four QPOC grassroots organizations: GAPIMNY- empowering Queer and Trans Asian Pacific Islanders, Q-WAVE- for queer women and trans folks of API descent, SALGA-NYC- or the South Asian LGBTQ community and Tarab NYC – Queer, Middle Eastern, North African and Fabulous. Show up and dance out all that rainbow energy before July hits!

$15, 6:00PM-1:00AM, The Delancey, 168 Delancey, NY, NY.

PARTY: LAUREN FLAX & MICHAEL MAGNAN

By Sunday night most queers are tired out. Although, a lot of the community is still running around the boroughs all hot and bothered, making the most of their shiny little lives, and amen for that because trust, the parties don’t stop when the parade route ends. Sutherland just got their liquor license last weekend and as a brand new, LGBTQ+ exclusively staffed space they are ready to take you to wherever you need to be. While there are parties the whole weekend, Fridays are more focused on disco/soulful music and Saturdays on techno, house and more. I’d be happy to give you guys more details about the venue if you are interested. We want to recommend Sunday night’s party to let you know how to rage politely but adequately. Lauren Flax and Michael Magnan have been DJing in NYC for ages. They play the best electro-techno and house that, because of it’s queer history, will make you pulsate, bump, grind and honestly do whatever it is that fag ether can do to a body. The space is just getting it’s footing, so if you’re one of those “I was there when” types this is most certainly a party to go to. But that said, Sutherland is a new space beginning to be filled with the right energy and the right people, so show up, come correct and don’t bring your ego. Relax and enjoy the music, take your time and enjoy your night.

$5 before 11:00PM, 10:00PM-4:00AM, Sutherland, 260 Meserole St. BK, NY.
