A 50th Birthday Celebration for Tori Amos

I’ll be honest with you, I’ve never quite understood the obsession some peeps have with Tori Amos. Don’t get me wrong "A Sorta Fairytale," at one point around 2004, was the most played song in my iTunes library (I’m re-listening to it now as I type this, and god damn it’s still a good song) but her music has never made me want tattoo one of her lyrics to my forearm (google it), and I wouldn’t drive across state lines to see her perform (her fans have travelled further). There’s something about Tori that commands total devotion from her followers. While I don’t get it, I’m happy to support it. This Sunday at Joe’s Pub singer Enid Ellen presents a very special 50th b’day celebration for Ms. Amos. It features all sorts of special guests including: Cole Escola, Nicholas Gorham, Erin Markey, Joseph Keckler, Dane Terry, Kim Smith, Dan Fishback, Natti Vogel, Brett Every, B0DYH1GH and Greg Potter. They’ll “pay tribute to the goddess, Tori Amos on the week of her 50th birthday.” I can’t imagine anyone throwing a tribute party like this for Jewel or Alanis Morissette. You’re doing something right Tori. Fuck those Cornflake girls, raisins rule!

$14, 9:30pm, Joe’s Pub, 425 Lafayette St. NY, NY.
