Event: The 2nd Annual New York Boylesque Festival
Every time we get an email from Daniel Nardicio, we just know we are going to see pictures of muscular, almost naked men. It’s just so much fun to open these kind of emails at work, you know I enjoy a NSFW thrill, and I am sure some of you do too! Anyways, Jen Gapay have organized this exciting Boylesque festival, that spans the course of two nights. “The Teaser party” is on Friday at Public Assembly. Tickets for that start at $15, then on Saturday it moves to the Gramercy Theater for “The Main Event.” Tickets for that range from $30-$70. I am not going to bore you with a list of names, because as you can imagine there’s lots of people involved in this. All you need to know is that it features “40 amazing boylesque performers from around the globe!” You heard that right, men, men, men and then some more men! Event: Roman Catholic Jacuzzi Book Launch
Michael Bullock’s first published short story — Roman Catholic Jacuzzi, is said to be true to fact with only names changed to protect the innocent (and not so). It’s a provocative peek into an exceptional retreat attended by horny closeted Roman Catholic priests. Set in the idyllic locale of a sylvan gay lodge and campground, deep in the woods of southern Massachusetts, the story records Michael’s brief but deep interactions with the priests alongside his fantasies and ruminations. Printed on thick paper and delightfully designed, the short story climaxes with a suggestive and (literally!) steamy jacuzzi scene. Join Michael and the book’s publisher, Karma, for a sexy celebration that includes a special performance by the “gay & lesbian gospel choir” Lavender Light and music by the always ferocious Honey Dijon. Come get wet. —Patrick
Event: The MR(s) Williamsburg Pageant
Here’s something we didn’t know we needed, a Mr(s) Williamsburg drag pageant. It’s an 8 week competition with three titles, and one final crown. “Throughout the months of March & April, Sugarland Nightclub, Metropolitan and This n’ That will be holding weekly competitions to find six queens to represent all the bars for the titles of Mr(s) Sugarland Nightclub, Mr(s) Metropolitan and Mr(s) This n’ That. THEN, those 3 queens will have one final epic showdown at Sugarland for: The tittle of Mr(s) Williamsburg.” The final queen (or king) will get some pretty sweet prizes for their hard work. These include bookings throughout all the bars for the month of May, a ride in the Brooklyn Gay Pride Parade and a cash money prize of five hundred dollars. The latest round is taking place this Thursday at Sugarland. It’s hosted by Alotta McGriddles with guest judge Felicity Starr Dust. I’m so excited for this! It’s like Rupaul’s Drag Race but IRL. —tom

Event: Queer Lives in Print
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, god dammit we’re big fans of the Bureau of General Services-Queer Division. It’s a LES queer bookstore (remember those) filled with all sorts of faggy publications, but they also throw literary events. Like this one! Hosted by author and educator Hal W. Lanse, PhD (The Rainbow Curriculum) this is a continuation of his popular series of writing workshops. All interested writers (of any skill level) are invited to join Hal for an evening of creative writing. Bring a pen and paper or a laptop or even an iPad (don’t bring an iPad, you really don’t want to be “that guy”) and Dr. Hal will provide you with writing prompts that will “jolt your imagination and inspire written pieces about your rich set of personal experiences. For those of you who are interested, Dr. Hal is looking for new and undiscovered authors for his imprint Queer Street Books, Inc.” Which means you might get your queer little stories published. How great would that be! It’s a suggested donation of $10, but c’mon this is a community, feel good-y type thing, so pony up the full amount. K? —tom
Event: WEARABLE ART FROM WARHOL TO WESTWOOD
We admire people that make an effort to leave their house each day wearing something interesting. I mean why buy art when you can be walking around wearing it? The organizer Victor P. Corona tells us that this event is inspired by the Metropolitan Museum’s upcoming “Punk: Chaos to Couture” exhibition. The ‘Wearable Art from Warhol to Westwood’ discussion “will engage the question—if and how fashion can be considered wearable art...The panel will bring together a sociologist studying style with Michael Alig... a designer who makes dresses out of laminated images, a leading street style photographer, and the author of Andy Warhol’s New York City.” It makes complete sense that bitches that wear art everyday, the mother of trouble Gerry Visco (I mean the woman wears every possible color in the spectrum all at once) and the always cunty Leo Gugu (pictured) will be there. As far as I am concern their looks are both art and fashion. After the event head to the after party at Catwalk, hosted by “nightlife and style icon” Susanne Bartsch, bitch is still alive for the sake of fashion. —Abi

Event: Q & Gay – Queerlebrity
It’s 2013, being a closeted celebrity just seems a bit ridiculous at this point, yet there’s still plenty of ‘em. There’s this stupid assumption in Hollywood that no ‘leading man’ can open a big budget film and open the door to his closet. You know why people still think like this? Because no one has ever tested it! There has never been an openly gay leading man in the history of Hollywood movie making. Not one. That day will surely come, but until it does, let’s get together and have a kiki about all those DL celebs. This Thursday at the LGBT Center, as part of their live talk show series (Q & Gay), they’ll be doing just that—tackling the topic of closeted celebrities. Join guests Michael Musto (Village Voice and celebrity gossip extraordinaire), Kim Stolz (America’s Next Top Model and The Dalloway) and Clay Cane (BET.com and WWRL Radio) — as they spill the tea, “Q & Gay style.” Sure to be juicy. —tom

Event: Murray Hill’S Oscar Party
This is soooooooooo our kind of party. I love award season. I recently got a cable subscription just so I could watch the Globes, BAFTA’s, and of course the Oscars live. It’s my Superbowl. So you can imagine how excited I was to hear about Murray Hill’s Oscar party at Joe’s Pub. I love how it works—they’re screening the red carpet as well as the full Oscar telecast. During the ad breaks there’ll be “impromptu performances, impersonations of the nominated stars, movie spoofs, interviews from the fake red carpet, movie trivia games and lots of prizes.” Special guests include Jenn Harris, Mike Albo, Molly Pope, Ben Rimalower and Justin Sayer. They’re also offering a ballot to audience members so you can guess the winners ahead of time. Here’s a quick tip: How To Survive a Plague is going to win for Best Doc...trust me, I’m good at this shit. —tom
