Kwanzaa Party with LE1F
This time last year, I was spending the holiday season drinking far too much whiskey, hotboxing my parents’ garage, and scream-singing that Scissor Sisters song, with the random interlude by Sir Ian McKellen, at the family dog. Unfortunately, for the end of this year I’m spending the holidays much less festively in New York, where the weather is unstable and everyone is still bored and pissed off. But never fear: the city, thankfully, has redeemed itself and provided all of us still in town with an amazing excuse to struggle in mass transit and blizzards this weekend. On Saturday, Brooklyn Bowl is hosting a Kwanzaa party put together by Camp&Street with rapper/artist wunderkind LE1F and collaborators Boody Rahel and DonChristian headlining the bill.
I’m not sure what a Kwanzaa celebration normally involves, but I’m assuming the rest of the loaded list of performers (House of Ladosha, Ian Isiah, Junglepussy, Lakutis, Mess Kid, and Princess Nokia) will be able to bring me right up to speed. Hosted by Juliana Huxtable & Superpusha. The show starts at midnight which is the perfect excuse to hone your staying-out-late skills in time for the hot mess express that is New Year’s Eve next Tuesday. Not that any of us need practice doing that, now do we?
