Man on Man — “Baby, You’re My Everything”

A love song about being in love...

Man on Man is the new musical endeavor from Roddy Bottum and Joey Holman, and they are DIY-ing their way through this pandemic. The New York City-based band recently traveled west and began writing music and making their own videos armed with their iPhones and a handheld steadicam. Bottum and Holman, who have been dating for the last year, didn’t plan on becoming bandmates, but followed their intuition and starting a new journey together. “We just ordered a bunch of gear and it was all waiting for us when we got to California, and we unpacked that shit, and we started making stuff together. We had no idea — I’m not kidding you — we had no songs written, we had no agenda for the sound, we had no idea what it would sound like,” Holman explains, “It all kind of unfolded over the next few months like wow.”

Last month, the band released their latest single, “Baby, You’re My Everything.” In the music video, the pair explore the emotional and physical terrain that directly inspired this project. “It’s a love song,” Bottum says, “about being in love and sort of how that love catapults you into almost a supernatural force or a spirituality.”

M.O.M. is back home in New York City waiting for the opportunity to bring together a community in person, but, for now, they are more than willing to gather with the queer family and fans online. Man on Man’s album will be released in 2021.
