An off-broadway show at XL Night Club? I didn’t know what to expect, but my journey through space began the moment I walked into the club.

This space-rock-opera-esque show created and directed by Travis Greisler has a lot to offer. Captain Orion (Orion Simprini) guides the audience through an adventure in space that is totally fantastical. Featuring original music by The Orion Experience, the “show” is not really a show, but rather an interactive dance party that encourages the audience to dance to the songs along with the cast. A couple drinks into the performance, I found myself in a congo line headed by one of the dancers as I circled through the crowd. I was like where am I?

The plot is easy to follow (even while mingling and dancing with other people) and the choreography/acrobatics are mesmerizing. There are plenty of sci-fi references turned sexual puns that are sure to make you giggle. The layout of XL is completely transformed into a spaceship, making the audience forget that they’re in a nightclub. After the show, I had the opening song stuck in my head for the rest of the night.

XL DJs start playing music immediately after the show, which makes The Orion Experience a perfect opportunity for that dinner and a show and clubbing night you’ve been waiting to ask that guy out for. Blast off to a fun night!
