Party: Peechy Keen Pool Fourth of July Weekend
Peechy Keen was a mystery to me until I reached out to the Peechy Keen’s facebook page and a queen informed me all about it. Ty Sunderland (who’s part of the PK), told me that Peechy Keen is his disco collective with his friend Just Max. “We started in bushwick at this bar Tilt, but the Hotel Americano approached me to do saturdays with Avie Acosta. So I decided to move the party because it's more of a poolside vibe...We play disco, disco house, early 00s disco revival, gay house anthems like the Todd Terry Remix of Missing or the Dimitri from Paris Remix of Thinking of You, Just fun day time stuff.” This is the third installment of this party at The Hotel Americano, Ty told me that it was a fun mix of people from Chelsea queens to downtown club kids. Terence Edgerson is one of his residents host every week, but they have a rotating group of hosts and DJs. Plus, Serichai will be taking photos at the event. The pool at the Americano is tiny, but I’d say as long as you are poolside and your feet can fit inside the water and you are holding a bottle of rose, you are good. That’s what I did the last time I went to that pool. Arrive early to avoid the line, otherwise stay home, put your feet inside of a bucket of water and pour yourself some rose. I won’t be the same, but you get the idea. Don’t stay home, get some sunlight! —Abi

Party: DIRTY DEEDS (DONE DIRTY CHEAP)
We’ll take any excuse to go to Eastern Bloc. Not only is it one of our favorite local bars, it’s also home to Daddy Darren, the bar’s custodian, and part-owner, Darren always gets us drunk when we visit E.V., and he’s often on the turntables playing all the Britney and Madonna you could ever ask for. Last I saw on FB he was traveling to Spain, so I’m not sure if he’s gonna be at EV Friday for Dirty Deeds (although he clicked ‘attending’ on the event page), but please don’t let that stop you from showing up. You’ll have fun either way. Here’s what you can expect from the night: the emcee is Dina Delicious, music is by: Michael T. Damian, Kool Thing. Hosts are: Eddie Black, Christian Dryden, plus the Dirty Deed Dancers. If you didn’t pick up by the name alone, this is a rock and roll party, so expect plenty of that and not much else. Rock has been out of favor in the club world for a few years now, I get it, it can often be a little intense, but there’s plenty of good rock music, the Strokes for example are fucking awesome. If head banging in a gay bar is your thing, then your Friday night just got a lot more exciting. For everyone else, step outside your comfort zone, that’s where all the best stuff happens! —tom
