Party: 6th Annual New Year’s Day Potluck & DJ Showcase

Let me start by saying one thing, 2014 is all about keeping it simple, no bullshit, no fuss, no fancy puss. Start the new year and keep the party going at this potluck and DJ showcase organized by Rich King (one of the creators of Snaxx). He told me this is a very easy breezy party where “friends and family get together to share food,” bring a tasty dish, then head upstairs to the cash bar to wash down all that lovely food. Rich has been doing this party for 6 years now and every year he rotates DJS. This time around he is bringing us 12 DJS in 12 hours, including sets by DJ Will Automagic, Nita Aviance, Gustavo Motta, Daniel Dandylion, Austin Downey, Jeannie Hopper, Ricardo Tavares, BJ Murray and others. Get cooking bitches!

FREE, 2:00PM-2:00AM, Westside Tavern, 360 W 23rd St Frnt 1 NY, NY.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR NYE?

Our official guide to the last night of the year.

Whether you’ve had the best year or a Lady Gaga kind of year, New Years Eve is your very last chance to make memories, make mistakes and a great excuse to make out with someone for the last time in 2013.

We know it’s an overrated night, and it’s just as likely you’ll have the best time ever getting stoned in your apartment, playing Xbox and falling asleep on the couch by 11:15PM, there’s still a chance you might just surprise yourself and have an amazing time out on the town. That’s what we’re here for.

Follow our guide below to find a party that suits you this New Years Eve. They say you should bring in the new year the way you want to spend it — so here’s to a drunk 2014 filled with hot boys, drag queens, late nights and blurry iphone photos of Rihanna. Your (mis)adventure starts now…

PARTY: WESTGAY NEW YEAR’S EVE AT EASTERN BLOC
Same night, different venue, wilder people. Frankie Sharp is bringing the DJs and pornstar go-gos to Eastern Bloc, where the illustrious Stephanie Stone will perform as you guzzle champagne at midnight. Ask for a shot of vodka or tequila in yours to make it truly a night to black-out.
FREE, 9:00PM, EASTERN BLOC, 505 EAST 6TH ST. NY, NY.

PARTY: NYE @ SECRET ROBOT PROJECT
Bathsalts, Dungeon and Secret P are throwing an end-of-year blowout that combines our two of our favorite things: dance and drag. …

SHOCK VALUE PRESENTS: PROSCIUTTO

Celebrating the birth of Juliana Huxtable

This party is brought to you by Shock Value and it’s all about the “evolution of H.A.M.”  You know, like the song? But H.A.M was sooo this year, on the cusp of 2014 it’s all about “going Prosciutto (it doesn’t need to make sense, just go with it.) It’s also a birthday celebration for the hottest ‘it’ girl of the moment Juliana Huxtable. Here’s what she had to say about the party: “It’s my Birthday! 25 has been H.A.M., but 26 is about evolving and upgrading…”

When you see Juliana, the first thing you might notice about her is her gorgeous outfits, but keep looking cos what’s really special is the body she serves in those lewks…We chatted with Juliana and her boyfriend at a recent Christmas party and she couldn’t have been sweeter. Happy Birthday hun!

This night is going to be major, of course they involved every motherfucker in town: there’s visuals by Roxie Turner, performances by the “finest cuts,” La’Fem Ladosha, Njenna Reddd Foxxx, Quay Dash, Kibele Lo, Sam Banks, Jelous Orgasm, DJ sets by Juliana, Slava, Amber Valentine, Trey Latrash, _HD and Aaron Kolfage. It’s hosted by Casey Spooner, Adam Radakovich, Bel Ami, Walt Cassidy, De Se, Melissa Burns and many others, the list just goes on and on… click here for all of it. It may be a rainy, sad Sunday out there, but tonight is your chance to snap out of it — we’re not going H.A.M, …

Kwanzaa Party with LE1F

This time last year, I was spending the holiday season drinking far too much whiskey, hotboxing my parents’ garage, and scream-singing that Scissor Sisters song, with the random interlude by Sir Ian McKellen, at the family dog. Unfortunately, for the end of this year I’m spending the holidays much less festively in New York, where the weather is unstable and everyone is still bored and pissed off. But never fear: the city, thankfully, has redeemed itself and provided all of us still in town with an amazing excuse to struggle in mass transit and blizzards this weekend. On Saturday, Brooklyn Bowl is hosting a Kwanzaa party put together by Camp&Street with rapper/artist wunderkind LE1F and collaborators Boody Rahel and DonChristian headlining the bill.

I’m not sure what a Kwanzaa celebration normally involves, but I’m assuming the rest of the loaded list of performers (House of Ladosha, Ian Isiah, Junglepussy, Lakutis, Mess Kid, and Princess Nokia) will be able to bring me right up to speed. Hosted by Juliana Huxtable & Superpusha. The show starts at midnight which is the perfect excuse to hone your staying-out-late skills in time for the hot mess express that is New Year’s Eve next Tuesday. Not that any of us need practice doing that, now do we?

GIVING

A brand new party on Christmas Eve

Blake Martin and Joshua Weidenmiller are hosting a new party called ‘GIVING‘ — “The party for New York’s misfit toys” and it’s happening on Christmas Eve at Julius Bar. As we all know during this time a year NYC is a ghost town, but for those of us who are sticking around this is a great opportunity to meet some new people. Expect “dancing, performing, smoke breaks…” Music is by DJs Jonathan Dalin and David Orton, I hear they’ll be playing “Motown music and vintage xmas classics.” Also expect a special performance by John Early.

Joshua told me that this party is going to be “parent friendly,” so for those of you who have your folks in town — don’t leave them at home, show them how cute of a homo you are. “It’s about friendliness and generosity of spirit.” It’s a Festivus miracle!

FREE, 9:00PM, Julius, Bar, 159 West 10th St. NY, NY. …

Party: Dick the Balls

I’m sold on title alone, but luckily this Xmas party has so much more going for it. It’s all happening at Steel Drums in the BK, and from the list of peeps involved it’s going to be one hell of a night. Shane Shane is Mcing the event while DJs Nita, Sokolowski and JX Cannon will get you dancing under the mistletoe (sorry, I promise that will be my only lame Xmas pun.) There’s so many other people involved that I literally don’t have the space to mention them all, but here’s a couple of our favs: Boy Wolf, Will Sheridan (pictured), Miss Amber Alert and RobotMoon Juice (setting Hanukkah candles on FIRE). Don’t expect to get much sleep this Friday, it’s one of those parties that somehow manages to skirt all legal restrictions and stay open all night finishing up at 5:00AM. Considering that it bleeds into the shortest day of the year, winter solstice is on the 21st, staying up all night is probably a good idea; might as well make the most of the night since there’s so goddamn much of it.

$10, 10:00pm-5:00am, STEEL DRUMS, 35 BEADEL ST. Brooklyn, NY.

Party: SPANK CULT 6-Year Anniversary

I haven’t been to a Spank party in foooooorever. I don’t know why I’ve been such a lame-o but I really can’t remember when I went to one last. Nevermind, this Saturday’s Spank party is sure to be a big one, it’s their 6-year anniversary (they grow up so fast). They’re doing a whole 666, hell theme. Music for the night is of course by the talented Spank DJs Will Automagic + Sean B. They also have a whole bunch of lovely co-hosts. There’s Earl Dax, Juliana Huxtable, Desi Santiago, Raul de Nieves, Sarah Jenny, Cameron Cooper and a whole bunch of other nightlife peeps. Spank parties are designed for people who like to dance, stay up late and ingest substances that make those first two things way more fun. Just be careful what you’re buying, turns out Molly is all synthetic these days, which means you’re more than likely taking bath salts. Fun! Make sure you grab a ticket to Spank early. They’re doing discounted tickets for $6.66 if you buy them in advance. What angels.

$6.66 in advance, 11:00PM, 88 Palace, 88 East Broadway New York, NY.
