Party: HALLOWEEN AT AUNTIE MAME’S

For some reason a few Halloween parties are happening this weekend, even though Halloween isn’t official until next Thursday. Call us traditionalist, cos our GAYLETTER Interracial Halloween is happening on the actual night of Halloween, but whatevs gay people will take any excuse to dress up. Let’s just make the whole month of October Halloween! In some ways Halloween is like Fashion Week, except you don’t have to deal with Adderall munching 22-year-old PR girls in borrowed clothes to get into the parties. Which speaking of, the first one to kick off the festivities is Susanne Bartsch’s Halloween at Auntie Mame’s. We’ll forgive it being at Buddakan — one of the cities more flashy Meatpacking scene restaurants — because Susanne is involved. Susanne does Halloween 365 days a year, so you can bet this is going to be special. In the foyer expect “Buddhas, Geishas and Dragon Ladies” in the drawing room “Muffinhead’s Kabuki Karaoke” in the dining room “Mad Monster Mix” and finally in the library “Mame’s Cabinet of Curiosities.” In typical style Susanne has enlisted about 47 hosts and most excitingly music by Sammy Jo….and the adorable Jake Shears. Guess I better get my costumes in order, anyone have a Hillary Clinton pant suit I could borrow?

$20, 12:00AM, Buddakan, 75 9th Ave. NY, NY.

Party: Dragnet Halloween

Booo! When you throw a regular party it can be hard to align with certain holidays, so sometimes you just have to fudge it. Which is why, even though it’s 2 weeks out, Thursday’s edition of Dragnet is Halloween themed. Just think of it as a warm-up for the real thing. There’s going to be performances by Untitled Queen, Alotta McGriddles, BaccHaus, Ajá Marie-Vontease and Alyson Wonder-Land. Plus, of course, your host for the night, the biggest, baddest bitch in town Merrie fucking Cherry. We have been in serious RuPaul’s Drag Race withdrawal the last couple of months so this night could not come soon enough. Expect lots of carrying, queening and cuntying (that’s a thing right?).

FREE, 10:00PM, METROPOLITAN BAR, 559 Lorimer St. Brooklyn, NY.

Party: HORSE MEAT DISCO – COLUMBUS DAY WEEKEND

We went to the Bunker party last Saturday at Output and there was something amazing in the air... It took me 10 minutes to realize what was going on and why everyone was sooo friendly. Something about the way Output is designed is perfect for carrying, it has so many spaces where you can get lost. You can spend your entire night moving from one part to another trying to figure out what you’re doing next. It also has an awesomely trashy Miami vibe and an amazing sound system, it’s definitely one of my new favorite places to party. This Sunday join “Europe’s top disco collective” Horse Meat Disco for their Columbus Day weekend party. Yeyyyyyy! It’s hosted by Ladyfag, Casey Kenyon and Cameron Cooper, with opening sets by Spank DJs (Will Automagic and Sean B.) Be prepared for an epic night: carry, twerk, dance and sweat, just don’t forget to drink lots of water.

$15 Online presale/$20 Door, 11:00PM, OUTPUT, 74 WYTHE AVE. Brooklyn, NY.

Party: Be Cute

It’s a long weekend motherfuckers!!!! As the organizers of this event (Matty Beats X Horrocharta, pictured looking cute, and Merkin Muffley) like to say “this is a dance party... No host, no shows, all dance. A lot of booty shakin” That being said, it’s one hell of a dance party that I can promise you will be jam-packed full of BK boys. The two organizers I just mentioned will be djing all night. Besides them you can expect a back patio, frozen margaritas and lots of cuties. Oh, and all of this: #drag #trans #dance #nyc #bk #bEDSTUY #glitter #dressup #sweat #love #boo #lips #queer #gay #face #vogue #pop #lock #it #drop #it #ham #txbk #hard #shine #diamonds #shows #justdoit #werq #tbt #yesmama #mattybeatsnyc #play #makeout #allnight I’m sold.

G.A.G. Ft. Honey Dijon

If you’re ready to have a dance tonight to beats by the legendary Miss DJ Honey Dijon then head to G.A.G. Started two weeks ago by Tom Ballinger (the owner of Slake), this is their 3rd installment.

You can expect “a bunch of fun interactive contests such as the Wet Underwear Contest, the Muscle Bench Press Competition ($150 Cash Prize), and more…” If any of that makes you gag then this is the party for you. If the fact that it’s in Chelsea turns you off, then just go for Honey…Dijon. Girl’s music will send you to paradise.

Party: THE RETURN OF GRIFFIN SUNDAYS

There’s not many BIG parties left in NYC, I mean besides our last Pride party at the Wythe Hotel, Shade, The Carry Nation and Spank, but they all happen infrequently. Griffin Sundays was a big party that happened EVERY Sunday. The party took a break to travel abroad during the summer, but now it’s back in town. Unfortunately it too is joining the limited-time club (the next ones not for a few weeks), but whatevs, let’s make the most of it while we can. It’s in the Meatpacking district which is usually not a place we venture to, but we’ll make an exception because from past experience it’s def going to be full of hot young dudes. For the first hour there’s also an open bar (7-8PM) — free drinks in the Meatpacking, who has ever heard of such a thing?! I don’t know what else I can tell you, there’s a whole bunch of people I’ve never heard of hosting, and a “surprise DJ” who we’ll apparently all “GAG” for. Hopefully by the end of the night you’ll be gagging on something else entirely (I’m talking about cock in case that wasn’t clear).

FREE, 7:00pm-12:00AM, The Griffin, 50 Gansevoort St. NY, NY.

Party: Que(e)ry: OVERDUE

Boys that like to read are cute, and boys that can read a bitch are even cuter. Lucky for us, the library is open! Here you have it: “A dance party for queer librarians and those who love them.” If you live in NYC you’ve probably seen all manner of themes for parties (and of course read about them on GAYLETTER) but this is a new one. We’re onboard mainly because all the proceeds from the party benefit the Bureau of General Services — Queer Division (these homos are working hard to keep us well read) and the Pop-Up Museum of Queer History (a grassroots organization that transforms spaces into temporary installations to celebrating the rich, long, and largely unknown histories of LGBTQ people). The party will feature live music by Accident Report and the Warm Leatherettes with tunes by DJ Shomi Noise & DJ Shade Parade — plus, boylesque gogo Rique Shaw. Jesus, so much to learn... Que(e)ry (who’s running the party) “aims to promote awareness for libraries and archives with collections and services related to GLBTIQ and Two-Spirit heritage, rights, and literature.” Head to the party, read a book, get drunk, don’t act dumb.

$10 SUGGESTED DONATION, 9:00PM, CAKE SHOP, 152 Ludlow St. NY, NY.
