Party: Cat’s Meow

Most of the people reading this are probably too young to remember Andy Warhol’s New York, yet he’s left such an indelible impression on this city he is regularly fetishized through art retrospectives, walking tours, performances and now through this new party in Bushwick. From all accounts Andy was a total arsehole...but his art was prolific and way ahead of it’s time (apparently talent trumps all.) WARHOLIA brings “you the sounds from venues like Studio 54, Max’s Kansas City, Palladium and artists like Talking Heads, Grace Jones & Velvet Underground — with the looks of pop, hipster & celebutante!” It sounds like a bit of a shit show, but if they can pull it off it also sounds like it could an interesting night out. Also, some of our favorite peeps are involved including hostess Merrie Cherry and DJ Sokolowski. They’ll also be offering drinks specials throughout the night, along with an absinthe bar. So if you’re bored, you can always pull an Edie Sedgwick and get royally fucked up.

FREE, 10PM, Bizarre, 12 Jefferson St. BK, NY.

Party: ANONYMOUS

We went to a party at Gio Black Peter’s apartment on Cinco de Mayo. Gio and this other girl were naked, painted from head-to-toe in blue and green paint. There was this other boy with a bowl haircut, he was painted orange. Also in attendance was Dev Hynes (otherwise known as the musician Blood Orange) and a Dutch film crew. Gio and the other boy were meant to fuck the girl for his new music video, but I guess they were all too drunk and the dutch film crew was kind of killing the mood with all their lights and boom mikes (you gotta give it to porn stars, fucking on camera is harder than it looks.) It was a pretty wild party, but I’d expect nothing less from Gio, which is why we’re excited for his new party, Anonymous, this Friday night. It’s a one night only, masked event (yes you need to wear a mask) happening somewhere in New York. To find out the details for the night you’ll need to email the address below. All we can tell you is that I may, or may not, be djing, naked, painted people, and a Dutch film crew may or may not turn up, but you will most definitely have an amazing night.

Email: nycanonymousfun@gmail.com for details.

Mossy & Renee’s Chelsea Bar Stroll

Our cultural correspondent Mossy tags along with bff Renee Cox to give the queens in chelsea some drama

After my dear friend, artist Renee Cox, and I saw the amazing Bill T. Jones dancers at The Joyce Theater recently. We were both hot and horny after the show so decided to go on a bar hop around the neighborhood. First we bunny hopped over to the Gym Sports Bar next door to see what was up. It was the Sunday Beer Blast—$3 Bud drafts, pool table, Mets game on the TVs, and DJ Smokey on the 1 and 2s. I had to hold Renee’s HermesBirkin Bag‘ while she took some pics of the crowd. She even followed me into the toilets with the bag in tow. They had pretzels and corn chips to eat and plenty of bartenders in ripped t-shirts serving us.

At one point someone told Renee she looked like Wanda Sykes, then bought her a beer (thanks for the drink, but oh OK, that’s the only other black bitch you know?) We then left and went to G Bar giggling all the way down 19th street. Along the way we passed the Nasty Pig, Renee asked what it was,  so we quickly popped in for a look, then pressed on. Check out our adventure below.

At G we nestled into a booth in the back and a cheerful waiter in bunny ears hooked us up with some pints for $7 a pop. I had to pee again so Renee followed with the camera and we found the cutest bunny peeing next to me. …

Party: INTERRACIAL – CELEBRATING 200 LETTERS

I mean WOW, we have been doing this for 200 weeks, that’s 1,000 posts promoting queer happenings in New York City... all for you bitches. Pretty hard to believe this little endeavour we started in Abi’s apartment has grown into the demanding beast that it is today. I mean not only do we have the letter to feed, but also our awesome new website, and even our straight version, GUYLETTER (that we help edit). It’s a lot of work, but we love it. Which brings us to this Friday. We want to celebrate this milestone with the people who helped make it possible — people like you. Come have a drink and a kiki with us and hosts Gio Black Peter, Slava MogutinMerrie Cherry Jason Daniels, Mossy and Bill Ivy Carter. Music is by Tom John, Earl Dax and AndrewAndrew. Expect surprise appearances, and plenty of lace front wigs.

Party: BOTTOMS UP

We can’t vouch for this party 100% because it’s new, sort of. You may know of it as Thunderwear Wednesdays, but it’s recently been re-branded as Bottoms Up. We heard rumors these queens don’t have everything in order for the new night, but hey, it’s still an underwear party and it’s at Sugarland. So that’s a start. Plus they now seem to be celebrating bottoms. That alone is enough reason for us to feature it, we’re just hoping these queens don’t fuck it up...Here’s what else we know: apparently they have a “special line-up of drag queen stars” including Merrie Cherry, Minnie Cupcakes, Macy Rodman and a few others. The hosts are Elizabeth James and Untitled Queen, and the “sexy gogo boy” Bill Soules will bring you shots. Also don’t forget to check your pants at the door with the “gorgeous duo” Katie Moss and Josh. For your bravery you’ll get a free drink. There you have it slut!

FREE, 11pm, SUGARLAND Nightclub, 221 N. 9th st. BK, NY.

Earl Dax Presents: Friends & Family

By now you should have recovered from all the 420 celebrations, but if you’re still feeling a little fragile then you should start your week with some Friends & Family, which coincidentally is the name of the weekly party at Hotel Chantelle created by our friend, and independent nightlife curator, Earl Dax. He told me what to expect from the event: “the party piggybacks on bingo with Murray Hill and Linda Simpson;” it’s the perfect “low-key weekly for artists, freelancers, club personalities, restaurant and hospitality workers and anyone else on a ‘show girl schedule.'”  Tonight expect music by DJ Amber Martin and performances by Bridget Everett, Khaela Marichich (The Blow) and Matty Crossland. Plus, “Happy Hour prices all night long!”

FREE, Bingo is from 7:30PM-10:00PM, the party goes until 2AM. Hotel Chantelle, 92-94 Ludlow St. NY, NY.

Party: PSYCHIC SPRING

It’s 420 bitches! I hope you’ve all stocked up on greens in preparation for this special day. And for all of you non-smokers, I just ask that you show some respect for such an important holiday. If you’re afraid to smoke because it might hurt your throat, then try some edibles. Get high, but don’t forget to set your alarm for this party, it sounds promising. Psychic, is a brand new seasonal party that will celebrate all the seasons. This reminds me of the song that Tom and I wrote 3 years ago called DP, we still haven’t been able to release it. It goes: “...spring, summer, autumn, winter, dp makes your pussy quiver...” it’s a lovely song about the change of seasons and double penetration. David Sokolowski who’s organizing the event told me that it’s going to be “a combination of The Magic School Bus, Electric Kool-Aid & A Dirty Shame.” It sounds like you probably need to be high to understand what that means. We’re also told that “space-designer Diego Montoya and a crew of volunteers will be spending all of 420 redesigning House of Yes into a neon lounge.” and their “coat check boys will be taking as many clothes as you’d like to give them, all night — so it’s up to you.” Naked and high is the only way to go, happy 420!

$15 Online /$20 Door, 10pm, House of YES, 342 Maujer St. BK, NY.

DRAGNET – 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!

Merrie Cherry, the creator and host of Dragnet, (the Brooklyn drag queen competition) has been working her ass off, throwing shade at queens, encouraging them to work harder for their art. And today she is hosting Dragnet’s 1 year anniversary! Join DJ Nicky Fader, DJ Maty Beats, and Merrie herself at Metropolitan Bar for a proper celebration. Queens will not be competing for any title, but you’ll get to enjoy performances by past contestants while watching them get wasted until their makeup wears off. Cute. —ABI
