Party: B2 GAY

It’s so hard to keep up all the parties these days, you barely finish a hangover before you start drinking again... It could be overwhelming, especially if you’re one of those homos that gets FOMO (fear of missing out). This party started late in the summer with hosts Joe Sturm & Dan Allegretto (both pictured), Dan told me that he used to frequent One Last Shag because a friend of his used to bartend there...“I would hang out, drink frozen margaritas, and play music off my iPod. When Joe got out of work he would usually come and do the same. Someone offered us the Monday happy hour DJ shift because there wasn’t one and we were always there. Now it’s once a month on a Wednesday.” It sounds like the perfect party to start the gay week. It’s a very chill vibe, Dan put an image of Britney Spears with the homophobic model (don’t even get me started) Tyson Beckford on the FB page as suggestion for the “general vibe” of the party. You can expect “a very diverse crowd,”  and as far as music they’ll “play a lot of female r&b and other clubbier stuff later in the night…” It’s an early party, but it gets turnt.

FREE, 8:30PM, ONE LAST SHAG, 348 Franklin Ave. Brooklyn, NY.

Party: SHADE

LadyFag and her boyfriend/drag buddy/lighting designer Seva Granik have been busting their butts planning the latest edition of their Shade party. We’ve seen bits and pieces of what’s in store on Lady’s Instagram, and have been feverishly lusting after every morsel of information we’ve come across. Yesterday we received the full story. According to the duo the event is a “dystopian homage to Detroit, a city with a long and storied musical past, and its post-modern spirit, and the sad state of affairs that we find it in these days, but with a party twist, obv.” To bring this vision to life the night is built around “the legendary Detroit DJ Assault, the godfather of ghetto house and booty, the infamous man behind Ass N Titties.” Sharing the music duties will be Mess Kid who is also from Detroit, and  “originally a techno DJ but has crossed over into many other genres plus Michael Magnan, Shade’s resident DJ.” I can guarantee Seva will be serving up a whole night’s worth of cool lighting displays. Their should also be lots of colorful outfits to help you forget its 40 degrees outside and of course plenty of shady young men just waiting to make out with you in dark, dank corner of the club. Grab your tickets from clubshade.com.

$15-$20, 12:00AM, Venue Address TBA Day of PARTY, BK, NY.

Oh Father, We Have Sinned…

Images from Church Dublin a monthly party in Ireland

Once a month, there is a service unlike any other in Catholic Ireland — one fuelled by a hedonistic celebration of sin. Church Dublin is one of the city’s hottest new gay-friendly club nights, and those that answer the High Priests’ (Dave Byrne, Kyle Barnett and James Kavanagh) call to worship offer glimpses of a very progressive, very eclectic, and very attractive future.

To date, each event has been held at The Pint down Eden Quay, a fitting venue spanning multiple floors connected by winding stairs and even offering a large open-air smoking deck. However, it is the central dance-floor where sinners gather and, in the shadow of looming crucifixes, a gorgeous array of Irishmen and women stumble and sway at the foot of the altar.

Biblical themes so far have included the Immaculate, Baptism, the Garden of Eden, and a special night of Halloween Necromancy. The range of local DJ’s passing through Church also means that various voices have joined together in the creation of an intoxicating repertoire of Hymns, which has included the likes of Azelia Banks, Cyril Hahn, Disclosure, M83, Eurythmics and M.I.A.

Church Dublin takes its inspiration seriously: it’s an event that not only welcomes all types of people, but thrives off the diversity of its congregation. It is this rejection of stigma that draws such a vibrant group each month — by celebrating those typically castigated as sinners, Church shows the inclusiveness that should characterise a house of worship. …

Party: Cherry Bomb

Holy fuck, this party is bananas, and definitely for people who don’t have to wake up early on Friday morning. Let’s start with the basics. The organizers are describing it as a “ratchet warehouse rave,” and an “art rave gala.” Both those terms are very 2013, on trend ways of saying it’s a ‘warehouse party.’ We’ll forgive them for their hyperbole because every homo and his mother seems to be going to this thing and it looks like a lot of fun. You can expect all sorts of ratchetness from host #Cuntmafia and his “proper villains” Joey Labeija, Wc Kids, DJ Speak Easy and Haruka Salt. There’s also going to be performances by Cakes Da Killa (pictured), Contessa Stuto, Jay Boogs, Quay Dash and Kay Rizz & K-OP. There’s not going to be a dull moment at this party so don’t show up too late, and wear something cute, that last look you wore at that thing you went to was not good. #GAYLETTERSEESALL.

$5 DONATION BEFORE 2:00AM, 11:30pm, 4TH AVE/9TH St. Brooklyn, NY.

Party: BANGCITY Presents – Cloud Nine

It’s been awhile since we’ve featured a serious music party (well a month). Luckily our ears and feet will have plenty to keep them busy this Friday as the Brooklyn and Montreal team of Bangcity bring us Cloud Nine featuring some of the most “forward thinking and influential DJs” from those two cities. It’s all happening at Paperbox warehouse (you had me at warehouse) in BK. We’re told there’s going to be “very gay and very cute deejays/beatmakers/producers” including Tommy Kruise, Sweater Beats, Mursi, Suzi Analogue, Helen Harris, Moneyworth and the night’s host, the legendary Ponyio. “It will be a night full of future bass, trill, trap, house, grime, ballroom, baseline, vogue and twerk.” Doesn’t that sound great? We just spent the weekend soaking our livers in booze in Palm Springs, but I reckon by Friday we should be good to go again. Especially after we got this message from KC filling us in on what to expect for the night: “The party is going to be cute and turn your vagina inside out and inside again!” So kesh.

$15 before $20 at the door, 10:00PM, The PaperBox, 17 Meadow St. Brooklyn, NY.

Party: Select All – A Queer Mixer

This is a bit of a strange event, it's happening this Friday Nov.8, it’s not for any one group of gays...it’s for ALL groups of gays. It’s a giant Queer mixer that “sets the stage for making new connections, whether new friends, professional networking, or sparking romantic interest for singles and the otherwise available.” It goes on: “This is a safer space for folks across the LGBTQGNC spectrum.” I mean, these guys are so inclusive they’ve even add a couple more letters at the end of that acronym that I’ve never even heard of. I thought GNC was where you got your vitamins from? In all honesty we love how welcoming this event is. And so does everyone else considering that their FB page already has over 500 RSVPs...Expect music for the night by DJ Tanner (Rumors, Hey Queen!) plus every gay, lesbian and BTQGNC person in NYC to turn up. It’s a much better alternative to Grindr. Don’t be afraid to mix!

$5, 7:30PM, The Bell House, 149 7th St. Brooklyn, NY.

Taco Pool Party Extravaganza

GAYLETTER is hosting a pool side event at the Ace Hotel Palm Springs

Last year we had such a c*nt time at Palm Springs Pride that we knew we had to come back this year and do something a little more official. Which is why this Sunday the GAYLETTER crew will be at the Ace Hotel for our Taco Pool Party Extravaganza. It’s been in the works for a couple of months now; we’ve been obsessed with getting every detail right (we even went as far as renaming the variations on their Bloody Mary menu: A Mariah Carne anybody?).

If you happen to be in Palm Springs this weekend stop by, or if you’re in LA, or really anywhere on the West Coast, grab a flight, steal a car, put on some running shoes and GET YOUR ARSE THERE. Special performance by Morgan McMichaels from RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 2!  Matty Pipes is Djing along with GAYLETTER’s very own Tom John, plus plenty of #water #skin #sun #speedos #carrying #blood #sugar #sex #magic.

Free for guests, $20 for none guests, Ace Hotel Palm Springs, 701 E Palm Canyon Dr  Palm Springs, CA. …

Party: GAYLETTER’S INTERRACIAL HALLOWEEN EXTRAVAGANZA

After a long break our official GAYLETTER party INTERRACIAL is back bitches! And even better it’s on Halloween — official Halloween. I don’t care that you dressed up like a slutty giraffe last weekend, Thursday night is the real deal. So pull out all the stops and head to Atlas Social Club in Hells Kitchen for a night of Interracialness like you’ve never experienced before. Our guest host, the porn star Max Ryder, will be holding court in the backroom. DJs AndrewAndrew, Tom Jackson (resident Interracial DJ) and MaRyanCarey will be playing music all night long with various pieces of Djing technology. Unlike last year we’ll be recognizable in our costumes (which means it’ll be harder for us to eavesdrop on people talking shit about us). We don’t want to give away our looks just yet, let’s just say there will be plenty of skin on display — Halloween is the official holiday for sluts after all.

FREE, 10:00PM, Atlas Social Club, 753 9th Ave. NY, NY.
